General Local Election Information
The 2018 General Local Election will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Merritt Civic Centre from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Two Advance Voting opportunities will be held at City Hall on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 and Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Qualified Electors of the City of Merritt will elect the following positions for the four (4) year term ending in October 2022:
? (1) Mayor
? (6) Councillors
? (3) School Trustees to the Board of School District No. 58 (Nicola - Similkameen)

The Nomination period begins at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 and ends at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 14, 2018.? The Nomination and Candidate Information Package is now available for pick up at City Hall during regular business hours and is also available for download below.? Two nominators are required per candidate.

The candidate expense limits for the City of Merritt are $10,000 for candidates running for the office of mayor, and $5,000 for candidates running for the office of councillor.? Third party expense limits are $750 for both mayor and councillor positions.
